I hadn't seen it before. It is a perfect expression of the two of them. They have their spats but I am continually amazed at how Ben brings out the best in Mimi: caring, compassion, watchfulness, generosity, unselfishness. How many kids are lucky enough to have that brought out in them by the time they are 6? As for Ben, so many of his pictures show his deep joyousness and enjoyment of fun. Such a boy!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11213572063146789359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7308707132104200403.post-19670983138535534792015-04-27T19:55:05.003-07:002015-04-27T19:55:05.003-07:00Thanks LK-Ben loves his grandma...and her ipad...a...Thanks LK-Ben loves his grandma...and her ipad...and fruit...and sherbert :)Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00056255153437531775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7308707132104200403.post-46237882940374044152015-04-27T19:54:18.392-07:002015-04-27T19:54:18.392-07:00Thanks J-I appreciate that. I also want to kill people when they tell me about the importance of a routine. Duh. I've done that since birth. Nothing seemed to work! Also, I realize that in normal pediatric development, kids often wake up at night. But I have one "normal" sleeper and one "abnormal" sleeper and the difference has been killing me. I don't know if I have good advice for you Alicia, but my main problem was apparently extreme mommy attachment that kept my son waking up. He must have just been ready for the change when I tried a new bedtime routine and it just clicked this time. My kids w...Ann, I absolutely get your frustration. My kids will go through spurts of waking up at night, for no apparent reason! Even when they do sleep, the longest they will sleep in til is 630am! Doesn't matter if I put them to put at 7pm or 10pm, they are up at the crack of dawn! Similar to you, I frantically searched the internet and asked friends...so I changed their diet, they activity level, etc etc (and ps, they have had a "bedtime routine" since day one, so that's not it), nothing changed! (and my kids are on a good schedule as they go to daycare 4 days per week). Even on their most active day possible, they do not sleep in. It frustrates me something terrible when I hear moms say they toddlers/kids sleep in until 8-830...do you KNOW what I would do to sleep in until that time!?!? Hence I totally get your 'want to punch them" thought process lol. I would love to know what your sleep specialist had to say. The beginning part of this month was "good" for sleeping, but the past few nights I have heard the 3 yo up and at 'em. From one tired momma to another, I get it. I swear I'm the most tired caffeinated person there is (aside from you haha!). Can't wait for the next post, I love your bloggie! :-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7308707132104200403.post-28128997601645474322014-12-08T07:44:14.461-08:002014-12-08T07:44:14.461-08:00Wow Laura! Congrats on the NP job too :) I can see you rocking that kind of position.

I don't know what I would have done if my pump stopped working while at work. How miserable and painful that would be!! And to be responsible for the whole ER at the same time. Yikes! Pumping takes a certain kind of persistence, that's for sure.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting!!Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00056255153437531775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7308707132104200403.post-52469804541968792242014-12-06T19:33:00.113-08:002014-12-06T19:33:00.113-08:00Hi Ann,
I finally have a chance to re post my com...Hi Ann,

I finally have a chance to re post my comment. I am now a mother of 3 children under the age of 5. My first child I had a difficult time latching on. After countless advise from lactation consultations; I pumped exclusively with him for 7 months. My second child I was able to breastfeed and pump for 7 months. My last I am currently having some difficulties with latching on. She is breastfeed and I pump. With my first 2 children I was able to take off from work for 12 weeks. That time was wonderful. With my last child since I became a nurse practitioner and just started my new job 2 months prior to delivery; I will be taking 8 weeks off :( The time is going by fast. I have just 1 more month left of bonding. When I returned to work with my first in the ED; I had to go to a private bathroom or locker room to pump. When I had my second..that is when the lactation rooms became available or I could use the back office for this. Now with the new redesign of the ED a lactation room with be in the department.

My first encounter with pumping was shortly after my C-section. The nurse rolled the yellow medela pump into my room. I was to begin pumping when I was more awake and every 2-3 hours during my 4 day stay at Casa FMLH. This is because my oldest would not latch on and of course he was still sleepy following the C-section.

The best pump story that I have was when I was working a night shift. I had 4 hours left and I decided to go pump. I was in charge and I went to the back office to pump. I hooked myself up and prayed that a trauma did not come in. After hooking myself up to the pump I turned on the switch and there was a strange noise. My dang blasted pump decided it wanted to stop working. I'm yelling at this point to my pump and to top it off the pager goes off for a trauma ahhhh!!! At the end of my shift I went home and attempted to rent a pump, but nothing was available. I soon found out that my insurance company would pay for a pump. I had to contact my OBGYN and he faxed something over to the medical supply store and I had my new pump that same day. Unfortunately my milk decreased during this time, but eventually came back after a week.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03702354124651666529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7308707132104200403.post-64953406430684358472014-12-01T19:14:47.203-08:002014-12-01T19:14:47.203-08:00Thanks Sharon!
